I’ve been learning to fly for nearly a year and a half, part time, and have now accumulated the following flight time:
Total: 55.4
Total dual: 38.0
Total solo (PIC): 17.4
Cross country. Dual: 6.1. Solo: 4.3
Instrument: 1.9
Usually, the experience has been fun and rewarding, but often it seems like it’s just a frustrating money burner! However, it is something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid and is something that I’m so glad is now finally a part of who I am. Nothing beats the feeling you get the moment the airplane’s weight is no longer supported by the landing gear, but by the wings as you reach rotation speed, or the feeling of the perfect ‘greaser’ landing. I just can’t wait to be licensed and be able to share it with others! Flying solo is amazing, but flying as pilot in command and sharing the experience with friends/family as passengers will be that much better!
I have written (and passed) my Private Pilot – Aeroplane exam and have fulfilled all of the Transport Canada minimum flight time requirements for a Canadian Private Pilot License and am now doing ‘flight test prep’ flights in preparation for my ‘practical flight test.’ If mother nature cooperates, I hope to be licensed by February 15, 2010!
